Beeler - the hoarder house

Beeler was actually the first house we were under contract with, but the last one to close on because of the short sell process. This house was crazy full of things. The previous owner was a hoarder. Ever seen Hoarders???

Just like that, but thankfully nothing alive in there.... Floor to ceiling with belongings and junk piled high.  Literally stepping over things to get through the house.  It was insanity and I couldn't wait to get to work on the design process for this makeover! This 2600 sq foot tri-level home has 3 bedrooms upstairs, a large living room off the front entry, and a lower living room on the 3rd level.

We are about 2 weeks out from listing this property.  Look back for remodel pictures tomorrow!

Then came Maggie.....

Magnolia Way quickly became known affectionately as "Maggie".  This was a gorgeous home from 1973 that was still decorated in all it's 1970's elegance.  Thick, plush, lime green carpet adorned the oversized living room, with custom made matching furniture.  Into the huge master suite, over the dark blue thick carpet, there were a 'his' and 'hers' bathrooms.  His was paneled, brown, dark, very masculine.  Small shower stall, and large heavy built-ins.  Hers.....silver / blue flowered wall paper, large sitting tub, feminine built-ins, and a bidet trimmed in gold. The kitchen was a chefs dream with metal cabinetry and custom pull outs.  The brown circle wallpaper was everywhere, including the ceiling. As you walk out of the kitchen through the swinging door into the dining room and hallway, the green tinted tile adorned the entire length of the house, framed by the lime green wall paper everywhere! Except the main bath which had butterfly
wallpaper! The his and hers bathrooms in the master bedroom were combined to make one large master bathroom.  The gourmet kitchen has top of the line stainless steel appliances and custom cherry cabinetry throughout the house. The fireplace had the marble tile removed, and was replaced with a beautiful limestone wrap and bricks adorn the wall above the fireplace.  The wet bar in the large living room is a beautiful piece in the living room. Five of the original hall closets were consolidated into one office space, with french doors that lead into the entryway.

Fairfax - before & AFTER

the back room

Red Door Re-Design had a lot of fun working on this house. After we got going, it really needed to be completely gutted.  This was a smoker's house that had resided here for 20 years.  Walls were yellow and severely discolored.  The insulation was even a disaster.  This 1216 sq foot ranch was a 3 bedroom, 1 bath.  We changed it to have a large master with bathroom, as well as a second bathroom, and added a study, as well as a back room that could be used for a sitting room.  We removed the wall in the front hallway opening up the kitchen into the living room.  The front door originally on the side of the house was moved to the front of the house, where an oversized window used to be.  A detached garage was added to the rear of the property with a back entrance into the home. This house from start to finish and resell took a total of 118 days to complete and have sold.

The Beginning…….

    Fairfax

Red Door Re-Design LLC started its inception in July 2012.  For many years, I have wanted to become a fix-n-flipper/designer and was granted the opportunity when I purchased the first house on Beeler St. When the bank took too long to close, we moved on and purchased two other houses.  Fairfax and Magnolia (affectionately called Maggie now).

Fairfax was the last purchased, and the first closed, and first to resell.  We sold Fairfax in December.  Here are some of the before pictures as well as the after pics for the first house for Red Door Re-Design.
